On Stationary Stochastic Ows and Palm Probabilities of Surface Processes

چکیده
We consider a random surface in R d tesselating the space into cells and a random vector eld u which is smooth on each cell but may jump on. Assuming the pair ((; u) stationary we prove an inversion formula expressing the probability of an event under the stationary probability in terms of the Palm probability P deened by the random surface measure associated with. This result involves the ow of u induced on the individual cells and generalizes a fundamental inversion formula for stationary point processes on the line. We apply this result to derive some general properties of P as, for instance, an invariance property. Under the assumption that the ow can be deened for all time points, we derive conditions that are necessary and suucient for the ow to be volume-preserving. Our nal application deals with the spherical contact distribution in stochastic geometry.

Asymptotic Palm likelihood theory for stationary point processes
In the present paper, we propose a Palm likelihood approach as a general estimating principle for stationary point processes in Rd for which the density of the second-order factorial moment measure is available in closed form or in an integral representation. Examples of such point processes include the Neyman–Scott processes and the log Gaussian Cox processes. The computations involved in dete...
متن کاملConfidence Interval Estimation of the Mean of Stationary Stochastic Processes: a Comparison of Batch Means and Weighted Batch Means Approach (TECHNICAL NOTE)
Suppose that we have one run of n observations of a stochastic process by means of computer simulation and would like to construct a condifence interval for the steady-state mean of the process. Seeking for independent observations, so that the classical statistical methods could be applied, we can divide the n observations into k batches of length m (n= k.m) or alternatively, transform the cor...
متن کاملSecond Moment of Queue Size with Stationary Arrival Processes and Arbitrary Queue Discipline
In this paper we consider a queuing system in which the service times of customers are independent and identically distributed random variables, the arrival process is stationary and has the property of orderliness, and the queue discipline is arbitrary. For this queuing system we obtain the steady state second moment of the queue size in terms of the stationary waiting time distribution of a s...
متن کاملThe Stationary - NonStationary Process and The Variable Roots Difference Equations
Stochastic, processes can be stationary or nonstationary. They depend on the magnitude of shocks. In other words, in an auto regressive model of order one, the estimated coefficient is not constant. Another finding of this paper is the relation between estimated coefficients and residuals. We also develop a catastrophe and chaos theory for change of roots from stationary to a nonstationary one ...
متن کاملOpen problems in renewal, coupling and Palm theory
This note presents four sets of problems. The first suggests the possibility of a limit theory for null-recurrent renewal processes similar to the theory in the positive recurrent case. The second concerns exact coupling of random walks on the line with step-lengths that are neither discrete nor spread out. The third concerns the coupling characterization of setwise convergence of distributions...
